James Brennan
This bronze bust of James Brennan was commissioned by the Menzies Shire Council as a component of the Menzies War Memorial. James was one of many Aboriginal Australians whom enlisted in the army to fight in World War II. At age 22 he travelled to the Middle East taking part in the battle of El Alamein in Egypt and was later taken prisoner by German-Italian forces. From there, he was sent to prisoner of war camps in northern Italy before finally returning to Australia.
